Dagana is citrus country: in winter the slopes hang heavy with mandarins bound for markets across the border. Its ridgetop villages look south over descending blue ranges toward India, and its trails link them the way roads only recently learned to.
This is the deep south of the old kingdom, for second visits long routes and travellers allergic to itineraries.
Dagana is a ridge road south of Wangdue, so allow most of a day to reach it. One night is enough for Daga Dzong and a village walk. November to March is the best time, when the mandarins are harvested.
