Lhuentse Tshechu may be the least visited major festival in Bhutan: five days at the dzong above the Kuri Chhu, in the district that gave the kingdom its royal line and its most precious weaving. The women of Khoma attend in kishuthara of their own making — the courtyard doubles as the finest textile gallery in the country.
Reaching it in December takes commitment; being there takes none at all. We route it with Mongar and, for the truly unhurried, a Khoma weaving day between festival mornings.
