Archery is Bhutan’s national sport, and an archery experience is as much social as competitive. You spend an hour or two with a local archery team, who will tease you and cheer you in equal measure.
What happens
You join a local team, learn the basics of the traditional bow, and have a go yourself. Hitting the target is optional. The banter is not. Expect plenty of laughter, and expect the locals to be far better than you.
Where
The experience is offered in Paro and Thimphu. We arrange the team and the location in advance.
When to go
Archery runs year round. Weather can change the plan, so we adjust the time if needed.
Who it suits
It suits almost everyone: couples, friends, families with children old enough to take part, and anyone who wants to meet local people rather than watch from a distance. You do not need any experience with a bow.
