Mountain Biking

A day on a bike through pine forests, paddy terraces, or the open valley of Phobjikha.

Mountain biking in Bhutan is a full day on two wheels through pine forests, paddy terraces or an open valley. Our guide rides ahead, slows down for you, and knows where to stop for tea.

Where you ride

The route depends on where you are and the season. In Paro you ride through pine forests. In Punakha you ride past paddy terraces. In Phobjikha you cross the wide, open valley. We choose the route with you, based on your fitness and experience.

What we bring

We bring the bike, the helmet and the snack. Tell us your height when you book, so we can have the right size ready.

When to go

March to May and September to November are the best months. Spring brings flowering trees and clear days. Autumn brings dry weather and good views. Rain can make tracks slippery in summer, so we plan accordingly.

Who it suits

It suits active travellers who want to see the country at their own pace, couples and friends travelling together, and families with older children. You do not need to be an expert rider. Tell us how much riding you do at home and we will pick a route to match.
