A helicopter scenic ride in Bhutan lifts you above Thimphu and the valleys around it. You see the dzongs, the bends of the river, the forests, and the eastern peaks if the day is clear.
What the flight is like
Flights last from fifteen to forty five minutes. A short flight stays near the valley where you start. A longer one follows the river to the next dzong or turns toward the mountains. The route depends on the weather and on what you want to see. On the day, your guide takes you to the helipad and the crew gives a short safety briefing before takeoff.
When to go
Flights run through the year when the sky is clear. October to December is the best time, when the air is clearest and the mountains are most likely to show. Cloud can delay or cancel a flight at any time of year, so we never plan the ride for your last day. Keep a spare day in the plan.
